Get Back To The Table

FALL in Love With Soups This Season

Oct 24, 2019

There is something comforting about soup, especially now that the temperatures outside have begun to drop. With the color of the leaves changing, the warmer clothes have been pulled out of the attic, the warm socks are on, and a big bowl of soup boiling on the stove seems to tie it altogether.

One of the great things about soup is that there are so many different soups you can make, which can be quick and easy to prepare. Soups are also a great way to get vegetables into your everyday diet and help kids eat them too. Libby’s® Canned Fruit and Vegetables are the perfect ingredients to have on hand all year round to make the perfect soup – Libby’s® provides a wide variety of options.

When you find yourself on a tighter budget or under pressure with time, all you need to do is choose a can of Libby’s® Canned Vegetables from your pantry, and in less than an hour you could have a delicious soup cooking away on the stove!

To make the best soup ever, we have put some tips together to ensure you do just that:

  1. Simmer, don’t boil

One important thing to remember when cooking soup is that you do not want your soup to be bubbling. The heat must be low enough for it to cook it steadily, so there shouldn’t be any bubbles. By boiling soup, the vegetables will cook unevenly; whereas simmering soup can enhance flavors.

  1. Add the correct amount of liquid

Make sure that you do not add too much or too little of your preferred liquid base, such as broth or water. It is important to ensure that you follow the recipes’ suggested liquid measurements. By adding too much liquid, a soup can get tasteless and by adding too little, the flavors and spices could be overpowering.

  1. Chop vegetables in small pieces

Libby’s® can help with this since it takes all the prep work out by having everything chopped, diced and ready to go for you to add to your soup!

If all you are craving is a big bowl of soup, look no further! Here are some of our favorite fall soup recipes you’ll surely fall in love with to help get you in the mood for the season ahead!
