Libby’s Wax Beans start as fresh plump, firm pods and then are cut into bite-sized lengths for a deliciously mild, subtly sweet flavor and appealing texture. We prepare Libby’s Wax Beans within hours of fresh harvesting them and just miles from where they are grown to seal in Farm Fresh Goodness.
So what is different? Wax beans do not contain chlorophyll – so the do not look green!
Did you know that Libby’s green beans are typically planted in April after Peas and Carrots each year?
Libby’s Wax Beans are seasonally grown and harvested fresh at the peak of ripeness. “Seasonally grown” means that every year, typically in June, we plant our wax beans and then let them grow until August when the harvest begins. In a normal year all of our wax beans are harvested and prepared, sealing in their naturally deliciously mild, subtly sweet flavor and tender-crisp texture by September – so they are ready for Thanksgiving with plenty of time to spare!
