Whip Up These Easy One Pot Meal Ideas For Your Busy Family

Are you already finding it hard to get back into the swing of things after a long summer of relaxing?

Now that the kids are back to school and the after-school activities are back in action, it’s time to start thinking about what meals to prepare for the kids when they come home from school and before they head out again to another activity or play date. Trying to find the right meals that don’t cause a mess, cost a lot of money or take a long time to cook can be difficult and stressful.

But don’t worry, Libby’s® Canned Fruit and Vegetables are here to help! We have chosen three of our favorite one pot wonders, which really only require one pot. With ready prepared vegetables, and only one pot, these recipes can come in handy when you are finding yourself under a time crunch.

Libby’s® Canned Fruit and Vegetables are a great staple ingredient to have on hand and you can keep them in your pantry all year round. If you have a supply of Libby’s® cans on hand in your pantry, and a good supply of spices and herbs in your kitchen, then whenever you are feeling tired or too busy to prep vegetables, make a one pot meal! All you must do is pop open the can, grab your pot, meat, and any other ingredients, and in a short period of time you can throw together anything from a beef soup and a risotto to ham and corn chowder.

See below for some useful tips to know when cooking one pot meals:

  1. Gather Ingredients

Assembling all your ingredients before you start allows you to see exactly what you have and will make the process of adding your ingredients to the pot much easier. You don’t want to be looking for ingredients around the kitchen while cooking as this can get stressful.

  1. Build Flavors Slowly

Make sure to allow your ingredients to cook for the recommended time frame, and at the correct heat to get the best flavors.

  1. Pick Your Favorites

Include your family’s favorite spices and ingredients to ensure that everyone around the table feels happy. It is always nice to see your family and friends enjoy food they love.

  2. Hands down! Eating with your hands can lead to mindless eating, instead grab a plate and fork, pick a few items you like, and sit down to give attention to what you are eating.  You will find yourself much more satisfied eating this way, rather than eating a whole bag of chips you did not even realize.
  3. Focus on the game and the people! Put the plate down, root for your favorite team, and enjoy the company of friends and family.
